Dresden, NY – July 18, 2024 – A Colorado woman is recovering from injuries after her car was struck by a train Thursday morning in Dresden.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, a 77-year-old woman from Englewood, Colorado, was involved in a collision with a northbound Norfolk Southern train at the Seneca Street crossing around 10:35 am.
Investigators say the woman’s eastbound car failed to yield to the oncoming train, resulting in the impact. The car came to a rest on the west side of the tracks.
The woman was transported by Penn Yan Ambulance to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital for treatment. The train’s conductor and engineer were not injured in the incident.
