High Visibility Engagement Campaign November 22-26

Sheriff Ron Spike says Yates County police agencies will participate in a special enforcement effort to increase visibility and reduce impaired driving this Thanksgiving holiday and weekend.

Many motorist will hit the roads eager to spend time with family and friends, thus making it one of the busiest travel times of the year, and unfortunately more people on the roadways means the potential for more vehicle crashes. Research shows that high-visibility enforcement can reduce impaired driving fatalities.  Sobriety checkpoints play a key part in raising awareness about the problem.  Sheriff’s Deputies, State Troopers, and Penn Yan Police will be doing additional enforcement efforts.

“We know friends and families will be especially excited to gather at the Thanksgiving table this year,” said Sheriff Spike “Thanksgiving driving drunk is deadly and illegal, and no one should ever take that risk.”

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving and weekend!
