Snowfall is a fact of life in the Finger Lakes region of New York, and for many residents, it’s a cherished part of the winter season. The picturesque landscapes covered in a white blanket, the thrill of sledding, and the joy of building snowmen are all part of the wintertime charm. But just how much snow has this region seen in recent years?

The Winter Wonderland of the Finger Lakes

The Finger Lakes region, known for its stunning lakes, vineyards, and charming towns, also boasts its share of winter beauty. It’s a place where snowfall transforms the landscape into a winter wonderland straight from a storybook.

Over the past five years, the Finger Lakes region has experienced a range of winter conditions. From mild winters with below-average snowfall to epic snowstorms that blanketed the area in white, residents have seen it all. Let’s take a closer look at the statistics from the last five winters:

2019-2020: This winter season was marked by milder conditions compared to the region’s historical averages. The Finger Lakes saw an average snowfall of around 50 inches. While this may seem like a lot, it’s significantly lower than some of the more snow-prone regions in the state.

2022-2023: The Finger Lakes region welcomed a snowy winter, with around 80 inches of snowfall. The season saw its fair share of picturesque snow-covered scenes, perfect for postcard-worthy moments.

2023-2024: As the current winter season unfolds, it’s shaping up to be another snowy one. Early indicators suggest that the region may see snowfall totals on par with the previous year.
