An Ithaca man has been arrested on several charges following two separate incidents that occurred on the Ithaca Commons on Friday evening. Hodari L. Martin, 53, is facing allegations of domestic violence and harassment.
The Ithaca Police Department received reports of a conflict involving Martin and a woman, identified as his ex-girlfriend, near Home Dairy Alley around 5:21 p.m. on September 27. Although Martin had fled the scene by the time officers arrived, the woman reported that he had used physical force to steal from her during their altercation. She further claimed that when her 9-year-old child attempted to intervene, Martin grabbed the child and threw them to the ground, causing the child to hit their head.
Later that evening, officers responded to another complaint about Martin harassing patrons on the Commons. Upon locating him, police attempted to question Martin regarding the earlier domestic incident. However, he became combative with the officers. After a brief struggle, he was arrested and taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Following his release from the hospital, Martin was charged with multiple offenses, including third-degree robbery (a class D felony), third-degree attempted assault and third-degree menacing (both class B misdemeanors), two counts of endangering the welfare of a child (class A misdemeanors), and resisting arrest (a class A misdemeanor). The investigation is ongoing.
