MAGA’s fiscal irresponsibility is to be compounded by its refusal to stop the war of choice with Iran.

Regarding Figure 1, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) observed: “The total deficit increases over the next 30 years, reaching 7.3 percent of GDP in 2055. Net interest outlays reach 5.4 percent of GDP in 2055, boosted by the rising average interest rate on federal debt and by sustained primary deficits. Throughout that period, when measured as a share of GDP, those outlays are larger than their average over the past 50 years.”
To pay for this illegal and immoral war, or crusade, even larger deficit spending will make the CBO’s 2025 estimates on the low side of reality. This is irresponsible. The money we are spending to pay for debt is money we cannot spend on America’s wellbeing.
Nick Langworthy has been knowingly complicit in this travesty against traditional Republican values. He proudly supported the “Big Beautiful Bill”, which added $2.4 trillion to the existing debt of $38 trillion before interest payments. He proudly supports other tax cuts without offsetting revenue.
Traditional Republicans support a budget balanced with revenue from a progressive income tax, appropriate excise taxes, and corporate taxes under which businesses, especially small businesses can and do grow. All Americans and American enterprises must pay a fair share.

Figure 2 shows how deficit spending accumulates in the national debt. Note how responsible taxation makes the debt go down.
The CBO observed “… federal debt held by the public, which is already large by historical standards, grows further over the next 30 years. By 2055, that debt rises to 156 percent of GDP and is on track to continue increasing.”
Increasing debt means increasing interest payments on that debt. It must be prevented. The trend must be reversed.
Republicans and Democrats now recognize that about 1 in 3 Americans are so upset by lack of wellbeing that they want overthrow the very system that could save them. That level of despair and consequent irrationality can only be fixed with investment. Investment requires discretionary money. Debt hampers our beneficial actions and suffocates our good intentions.
Traditional Republicans participated in three decades of managing balanced budgets for an economy that boomed and raised the standard of living and sense of wellbeing for nearly all Americans, and simultaneously reduced the national debt. MAGA promises the same but is delivering the opposite.
The United States has no one to bail it out. We must freeze the credit card, and pay it off.
What is required are congressmen that honor the oath to preserve, protect, and defend our Constitution and act. Act to reclaim Congress’s fiscal authorities. Act courageously. Tax responsibly.
