Former Corning Police Chief Richard Faulisi Dies at 87

Staff Report / April 17, 2026

Corning NY – The City of Corning is mourning the loss of former Police Chief Richard Faulisi, a longtime public servant who dedicated nearly four decades to local law enforcement. Faulisi passed away on April 10 at the age of 87.

Faulisi began his career with the Corning Police Department in 1960 and remained with the force until his retirement in 1999. Over the course of his tenure, he rose through the ranks and ultimately led the department as chief, leaving a lasting impact on both the agency and the community it serves.

In addition to his work in law enforcement, Faulisi was a veteran of the United States Air Force. His combined military and public service careers reflected a lifelong commitment to duty and community.

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard credited Faulisi with helping modernize the Corning Police Department, noting his efforts to bring the agency forward in the use of technology during his leadership.

Faulisi is remembered by colleagues and residents alike for his steady leadership and dedication to public safety in Corning.

A funeral Mass honoring his life will be held on April 24 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Corning.
