Temporary Road Closure Announced in Prattsburgh for Water Line Installation

Staff Report / April 22, 2026

Prattsburg NY – The Steuben County Department of Public Works has announced a temporary road closure in the Town of Prattsburgh to accommodate an infrastructure improvement project.

According to Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose, a portion of County Route 74, also known as Prattsburgh-Pulteney Road, will be closed to all through traffic beginning Monday, May 4. The affected stretch runs between Trant Road and County Route 75, also known as Browns Corners Road.

The closure is expected to last approximately five days and is necessary to allow crews to safely install a new 6-inch water line in the area.

A clearly marked detour will be posted to help guide motorists around the work zone during the project. Officials are urging residents and travelers to plan ahead, allow for additional travel time, and exercise caution when traveling near construction activity.

County officials expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and cooperation as the work is completed. Anyone seeking additional information is encouraged to contact the Steuben County Department of Public Works.
