Staff Report / April 30, 2026
Dozens of students from across the Twin Tiers were recently recognized for their character and community impact during an annual awards ceremony celebrating kindness and leadership.
A total of 74 students representing 19 school districts were honored at the 21st annual “Everyday Heroes” ceremony. The event highlights students who demonstrate compassion, mentorship, and a positive influence within their schools and communities.
The program is organized by First Heritage Federal Credit Union, which invites school staff and administrators to nominate students who go above and beyond in supporting others. Honorees are selected based on their kindness, leadership, and willingness to help peers.
Each recognized student received an award for their efforts, with organizers emphasizing the importance of celebrating positive role models among young people. The ceremony also serves to highlight the impact students can have through everyday actions that contribute to a supportive school environment.
The “Everyday Heroes” initiative has been held annually for more than two decades and continues to spotlight students who make a difference through simple but meaningful acts of kindness across the region.
