A weekend emergency in Ontario County ended safely after first responders rescued a woman and her dog from a steep cliff near Canandaigua Lake.
According to reports, crews from the Cheshire Fire Department were called to Seneca Hill Drive in South Bristol just before 2 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a person stranded on a cliff.
Fire Chief Chris Brown said responders located a 33-year-old woman and her dog approximately 40 feet down the cliff face. Emergency crews initiated a technical rope rescue, carefully lowering equipment and securing both before bringing them back to safety.
The rescue operation took about an hour to complete. Officials confirmed that neither the woman nor the dog was injured in the incident.
