Physical challenge will be at Mark Tubbs Park in memory of Lieutenant Michael Murphy

The Town of Lima is an Official 2026 Registered Host location for this year‘s Murph Challenge. The Murph Challenge is a 1 mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats and finally one more 1 mile run. This is all traditionally done in a 20 pound weighted vest.
This was a favorite workout of Lieutenant Michael Murphy, a Navy Seal who lost his life in an operation in Afghanistan. In 2007 his parents and family members formed the Lt. Michael P Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation. All proceeds that we raise will go to this cause.
The Murph Challenge is not only a test of physical strength, but also mental strength. It pushes you to your limits and that’s a mindset we should all embrace; trying to be the best version of ourselves, testing ourselves to see what we’re capable of and what we can achieve.
We are offering three divisions, The Strict Murph- completed in a 20 pound vest for men and a 14 pound vest for women, An Open division- where you can complete as much of the Murph as you can, and lastly, a Team division- where a group of four can break up the elements, however they wish, to achieve completion. It will be held at Mark Tubbs Park (7384 Ziegler Dr. Lima, NY) on May 23 from 10 AM to 2 PM.

As a town leader, I strive to lead from the front when I can, so this is a friendly open challenge, to other surrounding town and village leaders, to come out and complete the Murph with me. Let’s push ourselves, let’s root for each other and let’s help raise some money for the Murph Foundation!
