Multiple residents were displaced Tuesday after a fire damaged an apartment building in the Village of Watkins Glen, prompting a large emergency response from area fire departments.
According to Schuyler County emergency officials, firefighters were dispatched to the residential structure after reports of smoke and flames coming from the building. Crews arrived to find active fire conditions and worked quickly to contain the blaze before it could spread further through the apartment complex.
Authorities said all occupants were able to safely evacuate the building, and no serious injuries were reported. However, several residents were displaced due to smoke, fire, and water damage inside the apartments. Emergency responders and local support agencies assisted those affected following the incident.
Firefighters from multiple departments across Schuyler County responded to assist at the scene. Crews remained on location for several hours conducting overhaul operations and ensuring the fire was fully extinguished. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by local authorities.
The American Red Cross and other community organizations were expected to assist displaced residents with temporary housing and other immediate needs as cleanup and recovery efforts begin.
