VICTOR — Eastview Mall and several surrounding businesses were evacuated Monday evening after authorities received a bomb threat claiming multiple explosive devices had been placed on the property. According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, the Ontario County 911 Center received the third-party threat at approximately 6:14 p.m., prompting an immediate response from law enforcement and mall security personnel.
Deputies assigned to the mall worked with security staff to evacuate the building and parking lots, while nearby businesses were also cleared as a precaution. Additional law enforcement resources responded to assist with the operation as authorities worked to secure the area and ensure public safety.
Agencies involved in the response included:
- Ontario County Sheriff’s Office deputies
- Ontario County Sheriff’s Office explosive-detection K-9 units
- Monroe County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units
- Transportation Security Administration (TSA) K-9 teams
- Fire and EMS personnel staged nearby during the investigation
K-9 teams conducted a systematic search of both the interior and exterior of the mall property. Authorities reported that no explosives or suspicious devices were located, and the threat was ultimately determined to be unfounded. Fire and EMS crews remained on standby during the response but were not needed. The evacuation resulted in the mall closing early Monday evening. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the source of the threat.
