Keuka Comfort Care Home Launching Community Shoe Drive to Support Services

Staff Report / June 21, 2026

PENN YAN – Keuka Comfort Care Home is inviting community members to donate gently used footwear during a countywide shoe drive set to begin July 1, helping support the nonprofit’s ongoing mission. The nonprofit is reviving the shoe drive after a highly successful campaign two years ago generated 3,360 donated pairs. Although organizers initially debated whether to repeat the fundraiser, strong encouragement from supporters throughout the community ultimately led to its return.

The fundraiser will accept new and gently used shoes that are clean, wearable, and in good condition. Donations from men, women, children, and babies will be accepted, including sneakers, boots, slippers, heels, and cleats. Organizers noted that skates of any kind cannot be accepted as part of the drive.

Items accepted during the shoe drive include:

  • Men’s shoes
  • Women’s shoes
  • Children’s and baby shoes
  • Sneakers
  • Boots
  • Slippers
  • Heels
  • Cleats

Collected footwear will be picked up by a partner organization, weighed, and converted into a financial donation for Keuka Comfort Care Home based on the total weight received. The donated shoes will then be distributed to developing countries for reuse, helping keep usable footwear out of landfills while supporting the home’s mission. Donations can be dropped off at Keuka Comfort Care Home beginning July 1, with additional collection sites expected to be announced before the drive begins. Organizers hope to surpass the 3,360 pairs collected during the previous campaign while raising additional funds to support the organization’s services.
