Free Child Safety Seat Inspections Planned During Branchport Touch-a-Truck Event

Staff Report / June 26, 2026

BRANCHPORT – Parents and caregivers in Yates County will have an opportunity to ensure their children’s car seats are properly installed during a free safety event scheduled next month in Branchport. The Yates County Sheriff’s Office announced it will host a child passenger safety seat inspection event on Saturday, July 18, in conjunction with the annual Touch-a-Truck program at the Modeste Bedient Memorial Library.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library, located at 3699 State Route 54A. During the event, certified child passenger safety technicians will be available to inspect existing car seats, assist with proper installation, make adjustments, and, when necessary, replace seats. Officials said appointments are not required, and families are encouraged to stop by at any time during the three-hour event.

In addition to car seat inspections, members of the sheriff’s office will provide free YCSO Child ID cards for interested families. The identification cards can be an important resource for parents and law enforcement in emergency situations.

Event highlights include:

  • The event will be held during the Modeste Bedient Memorial Library’s Touch-a-Truck event.
