Dale Coleman, 90, Whitesville NY

Dale Chase Coleman, formerly of Whitesville passed away Monday, July 13, 2026 at Highland Park Nursing Home in Wellsville. He resided at Manor Hills Assisted Living the past 5 years.

Dale was born on September 18, 1935 in Wileyville, NY to John T. and Lera (Chase) Coleman. He was married to Erma McAllister for 62 years, when she preceded him in death in 2020.

He graduated from Whitesville Central School and Alfred Ag Tech. Dale proudly served our country in the US Army from 1954-56 before embarking on a career with the US Postal Service for several years.

He was an active member in both the State & National Rural Letter Carriers Association in which he held several offices. Other memberships include the Whitesville Fire Dept. and the Robert E. James Post 1012 American Legion.

He is survived by a son Leon (Lynette) Coleman of Whitesville, a daughter Laurie (Jeff) Tate of Williamsport, Pa. grandchildren: Ashley Coleman-Griess (Paul Chaffee) of Canisteo, Zachary (Keri) Coleman of Whitesville, Trevor (Haylee) Coleman of Alfred Station, Lindsay (Jared) Tate- Shipman of Williamsport, Alan (Alison) Tate of Ireland, Garyn Tate of Rochester and Taylor Tate (Franscesca Ybarra) of Williamsport, Pa. and 14 great grandchildren, Avoriaunna, Sophia, Ostin, Evelyn, Nora, Evan, Maisie, Miles, Henry, Barney, Serenity, Melanie, Chase and Alayna.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two sisters Eva Stebbins and Doris Montgomery, and a brother Lowell Coleman.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo where a memorial service will take place immediately following calling hours at 3:00 pm.
