PENN YAN – A vibrant blend of 1960s and ’70s funk, soul, and rock and roll is making its way to the heart of Yates County next week. The acclaimed regional band Blue Eyed Soul is slated to perform at the upcoming Yates Concert Series, bringing their irresistible groove and rich harmonies to the historic outdoor venue.
The 90-minute live performance is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, kicking off at 6:30 p.m. at the old Yates County Courthouse. Fronted by powerhouse vocalist Leah Brown and backed by a seasoned four-piece lineup, Blue Eyed Soul has spent over a decade entertaining Finger Lakes crowds with tight renditions of classic hits from legends like Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and The Temptations.
Local patrons planning to attend the outdoor show should note the following key details:
- What to Bring: Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating on the courthouse lawn.
- Weather Backup: In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors next door at the First Baptist Church.
- On-Site Dining: The First Baptist Church will be grilling and selling hot dogs and hamburgers starting at 5:00 p.m. before the show. Additionally, The Bluff Point United Methodist Church will provide snack concessions during the concert and intermission.
- Event Sponsors: The July 29 performance is locally sponsored by Norman and Susan Lindenmuth alongside the Loyal Order of Moose No. 2030, with partial funding provided by the James P. Gordon Trust, the Auburn Public Theater Regrants Program, and the state legislature.
