Randy M. “Red” Beardsley, 58, passed away at home on Saturday (July 25, 2026) following a medical event.
Mr. Beardsley was born on February 13, 1968 in North Hornell to Diane E. Beardsley and was raised by his mother and step-father, Ronald C. “Newt” Newton, who loved him as a son. He was a 1986 graduate of Wellsville Central School and BOCES, where he majored in Auto Body.
Randy began working at the age of 12 on the Denton Messler Farm and Baldwin’s Forest Products. At 16, he worked after school and weekends at K-Mart in Wellsville. After becoming certified as a welder, he did two stints each as a welder for Foster Wheeler in Dansville and Dresser-Rand in Olean and later Wellsville. On the side, he owned and operated Complete Construction in Andover for many years.
Red is survived by his mother, Diane Beardsley of Wellsville; his daughter, Kali Beardsley of Wellsville; his son, Colton Beardsley of Colorado; two sisters, Kim Beardsley of Wellsville and Melissa (Chuck Mielke) Beardsley of Bolivar; three grandchildren, McKalynn Hoyer, Anna Mae Hoyer, Ember Hoyer; four aunts, Arlene Carlin, April Dailey, Judy Storms and Cindy Burrows; and one niece, Summer Mielke.
He was predeceased by his step-father, Ronald Newton and a dear close friend, Shane Weinreber.
Red was a hard worker and loved working with his hands. He possessed a creative mind and was a top tier welder. In his spare time, he liked to kayak on the Genesee River, trap muskrat and hunt with his bow. He took down a black bear with just a bow and arrow; having it mounted and placed in his home.
That competitive hunting spirit made Randy a force to be reckoned with in the Richburg Fireman’s Club corn hole tournaments. He also competed in Wellsville Little League and played on the Wellsville High School football, basketball and wrestling teams.
Red was intelligent, very giving, outgoing and a self-described Red Neck. He was close to his mom and never failed to say “I love you” as he was leaving her house. Those were the last words spoken to her just the other day.
Per Randy’s wishes, there will be no services. A private graveside with his family will take place at York’s Corners Cemetery where his ashes will be laid to rest beside his step-father, Ron Newton.
