NAPLES – A Steuben County man has passed away from injuries sustained over the weekend after his motorcycle struck a deer in the town of Naples, according to law enforcement officials.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reported that 53-year-old Charles Burpee of Wayland was traveling southbound on County Road 36 shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, when he collided with a deer near 7832 County Road 36.
Following the crash, emergency personnel rushed Burpee to F.F. Thompson Hospital via the Canandaigua Emergency Squad. Once stabilized, he was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for advanced trauma care, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, August 2.
