Community Support: Tour de Keuka Charity Bike Ride Raises Over $80,000 for Local Families

HAMMONDSPORT – Cyclists and community members gathered over the weekend for the annual Tour de Keuka charity bike ride, raising more than $80,000 to benefit United Way programs across Steuben and Chemung counties.

The August 1 event drew nearly 200 riders from 14 states alongside 75 local volunteers, according to United Way of the Southern Tier. Participants started and finished their journeys in Hammondsport, choosing from scenic routes spanning 45, 60, or 100 miles around Keuka Lake. Presented this year by Kennedy Valve, all funds raised directly support United Way initiatives assisting children, older adults, and residents in need throughout the two-county region.

Key highlights and event details include:

  • Strong Fundraising Impact: Each participating cyclist raised a minimum of $150 for local United Way programs, with many collecting over $500 in donations.
  • Broad Regional Participation: The ride brought together nearly 200 cyclists across 14 states, backed by 75 dedicated community volunteers.
  • Leadership Gratitude: United Way President and CEO Maleaha Smith extended heartfelt thanks to the riders, volunteers, donors, and title sponsor Kennedy Valve for making the event a success.
  • Looking Ahead: United Way announced that the date for the 2027 Tour de Keuka will be released this fall, with official registration set to open on January 1.
