Community Relief: Pro Action and Foodlink Partner for Pop-Up Food Pantry in Dundee

Staff Report / August 10, 2026

DUNDEE – Residents in Yates County facing food insecurity will have access to free food assistance later this month through a collaborative effort between Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. and Foodlink.

The organizations will host a mobile, drive-thru food distribution on Friday, August 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Town of Starkey Highway Barn, located at 656 Dundee-Glenora Road in Dundee. The initiative aims to deliver fresh and shelf-stable groceries directly to local households in need.

Key registration details and operational requirements for participants include:

  • Mandatory Pre-Registration: Appointments are required and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Community members can sign up online or by calling the Pro Action Yates Office at 315-279-4321.
  • Income Information Required: Attendees will be asked to share household income details, which helps event sponsors maintain eligibility to receive and distribute U.S. Department of Agriculture food products.
  • Strict Drive-Thru Format: No walk-up service will be permitted, and only pre-registered households arriving in a vehicle will receive food. Drivers must stay inside their vehicles and display a piece of paper with their first and last name clearly visible for check-in.
  • Vehicle Preparation: Participants are instructed to ensure their vehicle trunk is cleared out or bring an empty box to receive food items easily.
  • Arrival Time Restrictions: Attendees are specifically asked not to arrive before 9:00 a.m. to allow municipal workers time to move town equipment prior to the event.
