Dan (Dapper Dan) died on 8/20/26 at Gainsville (Florida) Hospital after a short battle with cancer. His daughter Keri and brother Phil were by his side. Dan was the son of Henry and Ida Mae Quant Mitchell.
Dan is survived by 3 daughters-Keri, Becky and Rhonda (Josh) Sullivan and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Philip (Deb), Paul (Pegg) , sister Karole Baker and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, his sisters- Sandra Hotchkiss, Barbara Benjamin, Joyce Watson, Doris Doty and brother David Mitchell.
Dan grew up in Belmont, NY and attended Belmont Central School. He was known to live life on his own terms whether he was in NY State, Florida, Kentucky or Texas. He assisted in a Christian Ministry in Kentucky for several years and ended his working career at the University of Florida Gators.
Dan was well loved by his nephews/nieces and taught them many life lessons (both good and bad- Oh the stories they could tell!!)
There will be no calling hours or funeral per the family’s request.
