BATH – Steuben County Public Health officials confirmed an additional case of measles on Thursday, September 3, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the countywide outbreak to nine.
The newest case involves a resident who contracted the virus through direct exposure to a previously identified case. According to health officials, the individual began exhibiting symptoms on September 3 and is currently isolating safely at home until no longer contagious. While individual patient identities are being protected, public health officials confirmed that all potential public exposure sites have been identified and directly notified alongside individuals known to have had contact with the infected resident.
