ADDISON NY – The Village of Addison has been awarded a $1.7 million state grant to upgrade and modernize its municipal drinking water system, New York State officials announced Thursday, September 10.
The state funding, announced by the office of Governor Kathy Hochul, is part of an $85 million statewide grant package allocated across 12 municipalities and regional authorities. Addison’s $1.7 million award will fund significant capital improvements to municipal water distribution and storage capacity. Funding for the grants is drawn from the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds alongside the state’s Water Infrastructure Improvement, Intermunicipal Water Infrastructure, and Green Resiliency grant programs.
Key project components and system enhancements funded by the grant include:
- Water Line Expansion: Installation of approximately 3,400 linear feet of new drinking water main and the elimination of dead-end lines throughout the distribution network.
- Specialized Crossings: Construction of dedicated creek and jack-and-bore levee crossings to ensure system reliability.
- Storage & Safety: Erection of a new 388,000-gallon water storage tank along with targeted fire hydrant replacements.
- Control Upgrades: System-wide electrical, monitoring, and control infrastructure improvements.
