Yates County Legislature / September 26, 2026
The Yates County Legislature will meet on October 13, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Legislative
Chambers located at 417 Liberty St., Penn Yan, NY 14527 for the purpose of conducting public
hearing on proposed Local Law No. 2-2026 entitled “A Local Law Establishing an Animal
Abuser Registry in Yates County”, during the regularly scheduled October Legislative Meeting.

The Yates County Legislature finds and determines that animal cruelty is a serious concern for
Yates County and its citizens. Criminal statutes are helpful in deterring cruelty to animals but
unfortunately cruelty to animal offenses still occur in Yates County and throughout New York
State.
