The Arc Allegany-Steuben / October 2, 2026
Earlier this month, our wonderful Green Machine athletes joined approximately 175 athletes from across Western New York for the 8th annual Super Regional Bocce Tournament at Houghton University.
It was a day filled with fun, excitement, reconnection, and, of course, plenty of bocce! The tournament, organized by Houghton University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in partnership with Special Olympics New York, is a wonderful celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, inclusion, and community.
We were once again helped by the absolutely wonderful staff and students at Houghton University, who work so diligently to make this event possible. This year, 16 bocce courts were set up across Burke Field, with student volunteers on every court working alongside our athletes to help make sure the day ran smoothly and everyone had a fantastic time.
We are so proud of our Green Machine athletes, who demonstrated their skills and teamwork.
Here are some photos of our teams showing off their ribbons and medals!
Thank you and congratulations to Coach Rook, our volunteers, and all of our athletes on a successful 2026 bocce season!
