The Yates County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind motorists that farm equipment, horse-drawn buggies, construction equipment, and other slow-moving vehicles may legally operate on public roads at speeds less than 25 miles per hour with a SMV sign displayed. Motorists should be prepared to encounter horse and buggy traffic throughout Yates County and share the road safely and respectfully. It is also against the law to post slow moving vehicle signs on fixed objects such as sign posts, and mailboxes.
