UNION SPRINGS — A Cayuga County family raising seven children is rebuilding their lives from scratch after a fire destroyed their home on Wednesday night, October 28.
Abel and Chrissy Sogaw, along with their two children and the five nieces and nephews they are raising, escaped the blaze without physical harm. However, their residence was deemed a total loss and left all nine family members without clothing, furniture, or basic everyday essentials.
Long recognized in their community for their generosity, including stepping up to provide a loving, permanent home for their five nieces and nephews, the Sogaws now find themselves on the receiving end of community outreach. Family friend Annette Boyd has launched a community fundraising drive to help secure temporary housing, replace wardrobes for all seven children, and cover immediate living expenses.
Community members wishing to contribute or share the family’s story can participate through the official online relief fund organized on their behalf https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-a-family-with-7-children-who-have-lost-everything
