The Village of Bath, New York has been the dumping grounds for Steuben County DSS and parolees, and we are no longer willing to tolerate this situation. For years, I have urged the County to assist the Village in addressing this issue, but my pleas fell on deaf ears with the former Steuben County Chairman. Tonight, after obtaining these numbers from Police Chief Lewis, I spoke with County Chairwoman Kelly Fitzpatrick and reiterated my concerns. She has agreed to meet with me to explore potential solutions. I assure you that we will no longer accept this situation in our community. We should all feel safe anywhere and at any time in this community.
– Old National Hotel: 23 calls, no arrests.
– Budget Inn: 122 calls, 22 arrests.
– Finger Lakes Inn: 179 calls, 23 arrests.
– Super 8: 129 calls, 10 arrests.
These are year-to-date numbers.
In addition, we will pursue legal options against those business owners who put profit over community safety, including closing down their operations.
