SCHUYLER COUNTY – A motorist was flown to a regional trauma center Tuesday afternoon after a car and a tractor-trailer collided at a rural intersection in the Town of Cayuta.
According to the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash at approximately 2:20 p.m. at the junction of State Route 224 and County Road 12. First responders determined the driver of the car required emergency medical transport and arranged for an air ambulance to take the individual to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was evaluated at the scene and was not injured, authorities said.
Investigators are still working to determine what led to the collision. The Sheriff’s Office has not released the identity or current condition of the car’s driver pending notification of family and further review.
