Corning Community College, Commonwealth University Formalize New Transfer Pathway

Staff Report / December 20, 2025

Corning, N.Y – Corning Community College and Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania have announced a new transfer and scholarship agreement designed to make it easier for CCC graduates to pursue a four-year degree.

Under the agreement, students who earn an associate degree at Corning Community College will receive guaranteed admission as juniors to any of Commonwealth University’s three campuses—Mansfield, Lock Haven, or Bloomsburg. College officials said the partnership is intended to simplify the transition process and reduce obstacles for students continuing their education.

CCC Vice President of Academic Affairs Tony Wohlers said the agreement creates a clearly defined and affordable route to a bachelor’s degree, noting that Commonwealth University’s emphasis on transfer-friendly policies aligns well with CCC’s mission to support student success.

In addition to junior standing, participating students will be eligible for merit-based scholarships of up to $4,500 per year. According to the announcement, residential students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher will qualify for the highest award level.

Commonwealth University Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Stephen Lee said the agreement maximizes the transfer of credits from a CCC associate degree while offering financial incentives that help students complete their bachelor’s degrees more efficiently.

The new partnership follows a similar transfer agreement Corning Community College established with Elmira College in March 2024, further expanding post-graduation options for CCC students.
