Dundee Graduate Returns Home to Serve as School Resource Officer

Staff Report / March 3, 2026

A familiar face will be back in the halls of the Dundee Central School District this fall, as a local law enforcement officer takes on a new role dedicated to student safety and education.

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office announced that Deputy Nick Fultz, a 2013 graduate of Dundee, has been selected to serve as the school district’s next School Resource Officer (SRO). Fultz completed an 80-hour D.A.R.E. instructor training course at the Montour Falls Fire Academy and will begin his duties with the district this coming academic year.

In his new position, Fultz will take over from retiring SRO Rick Simpson and will be responsible for teaching the district’s D.A.R.E. program. The curriculum is designed to help students make safe, responsible choices and avoid harmful behaviors related to drugs and alcohol.

Sheriff’s Office officials emphasized that Fultz’s local roots and law enforcement training make him well-suited to build positive relationships with students and staff. Fultz began his career with the sheriff’s office as a dispatcher and later graduated from the Police Training Academy at the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy in October 2023.

The appointment underscores the ongoing collaboration between the school district and county law enforcement to promote a safe and supportive learning environment for students in Dundee.
