Community Members Invited to Join Yates County Service Day in April

Staff Report / March 15, 2026

Community members across Yates County are being invited to take part in a countywide day of service aimed at helping local organizations and residents this spring.

Registration is now open for the 27th annual Celebrate Service … Celebrate Yates event, scheduled for Sunday, April 26. The annual effort brings together volunteers from across the region to complete service projects at sites throughout the county.

The event is organized by Keuka College in partnership with the Yates County Chamber of Commerce and local community members.

Each year, hundreds of volunteers fan out to assist nonprofit groups, community organizations, and residents with projects such as yardwork, gardening, and light repair work. Worksites often include youth camps, churches, cemeteries, libraries, fire departments, and other community facilities.

Participants who register by April 6 will receive a free T-shirt and a complimentary brunch at the Dahlstrom Student Center on the Keuka College campus. Brunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., followed by a kickoff ceremony at 1 p.m. before volunteers depart for their assigned projects.

Organizers expect volunteers to work at project sites across the county until approximately 4:30 p.m. Individuals who miss the early registration deadline can still volunteer on the day of the event and attend brunch, though they will not receive a T-shirt.

The annual event has been held for more than two decades and provides hands-on assistance to dozens of nonprofit agencies throughout Yates County while bringing together residents, students, and community groups for a day focused on service and community support.
