Two Democratic Congressional Primaries Set for June 23

Staff Report / April 8, 2026

Voters will head to the polls on June 23 for two Democratic congressional primaries in Western New York, with candidates competing for the chance to challenge incumbent Republicans in November.

In the district currently represented by Nick Langworthy, Democrats will choose between St. Bonaventure University professor Arron Geese and Kenmore resident Kevin Stocker. The winner will advance to face Langworthy in the general election. Jim King of Owego NY is campaigning as a write-in Republican candidate for the seat.

Meanwhile, a separate Democratic primary will take place in the 24th Congressional District, where candidates are vying for the opportunity to run against incumbent Claudia Tenney. In that race, Alyssa Ellman of Lockport and Diana Castenbaum of Batavia are seeking the Democratic nomination.

Both primaries are scheduled for June 23, setting the stage for competitive races in the fall election.
