A Village of Bath man is facing serious criminal charges after police say he held a woman against her will inside a residence and subjected her to repeated assaults.
According to authorities, officers responded to a report of a woman being held captive inside a home in Bath. When police arrived, they were able to locate the victim and safely remove her from the residence.
Investigators allege the suspect prevented the woman from leaving and assaulted her during the time she was confined. The incident prompted an immediate police response and subsequent arrest.
The man, whose name was released by police, has been charged with rape along with additional offenses that include unlawful imprisonment and related charges. Officials say the charges stem from the alleged confinement and assault of the victim.
Following his arrest, the suspect was transported to the Steuben County Jail, where he was processed and arraigned. He remains in custody as the case proceeds through the court system.
Authorities have not released further details about the length of time the woman was allegedly held or the circumstances leading up to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
