F. Burke VOIT, 90, of Wellsville, NY, died Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. Born August 14, 1935, in Louisville, KY, he was the son of Alvin A. and Naomi Childers Voit.
A graduate of Woodberry Forest School, Woodberry Forest, VA, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, a master’s degree from Stanford University, and pursued a doctorate at University of Kentucky. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving from 1958 – 1964. On August 26, 1963, in San Francisco, CA, he married the former Barbara Nelson, who predeceased him on July 5, 2017.
Burke was an English Professor at Alfred State College, retiring in 1997 after almost 30 years. He was a past member of the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Surviving are: two sons, Patrick (Penelope) Voit of Trinity, FL and Mark Voit of Wellsville; a granddaughter, Flora Voit of Trinity, FL; a sister, Naomi Elizabeth Voit of Venice, FL; a sister-in-law, Joyce Voit of Louisville, KY; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Alvin Voit.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville.
