Republican Jim King Ends Write-in Campaign

Jim King / June 30, 2026

It has always been clear to me and most of my supporters that I was not going to win in a general election.  The question was, “Would my candidacy be a spoiler of Nick Langworthy’s re-election?”  Had I managed to raise enough signatures to oppose Langworthy in the primary election, a chance existed.

As a lifelong “traditional” Republican, I wanted to offer the 23 rd District a real moderate Republican vote rather than the Administration’s puppet now in office. Nick Langworthy doesn’t speak for us. He needs to be retired. My continuation of a write-in campaign, however, could divert votes from Aaron Gies, the viable and worthy alternative to Langworthy.

This administration has already been the most corrupt and divisive in the nation’s 250-year history.  Unchecked by a subservient MAGA majority in both houses of Congress, prices have gone up, we’re the aggressor in an unwinnable and humiliating war, and human compassion has disappeared.  Evil deeds and dishonesty are being normalized.  Langworthy and his compliant MAGA colleagues have refused to do their duty.  The next election can change that for the remaining years the want-to-be-dictator is in office.

I may not be on the ballot his fall, but I’ll continue to speak out against the hypocrisy and enabling votes cast by our current representative.  He refuses to hold even one in-person town hall and has now hidden away his district offices to escape persistent protestors who see him for what he is.

Your vote this fall can make a huge difference.  Nick Langworthy is a poster child “RINO;” a Republican in name only.  He certainly doesn’t represent me in any way a Republican should.

I want to thank those who have helped in my brief campaign and all those who have shared their concerns.  These have been some of the most enjoyable and rewarding times of my life.  I am grateful to all those who have supported and encouraged me, especially my petition carriers who made a valiant effort.

I’m ending my campaign, but not withdrawing from the dialog of this year’s midterm election.  Yes, I still believe I would be a better (one term) congressman than Mr. Langworthy, but the Democrats have put forth an honorable moderate candidate of integrity whom you should seriously consider.
