HAMMONDSPORT — Local history and aviation enthusiasts will have the opportunity to explore a lesser-known chapter of American flight later this month when a guest speaker takes the stage in Hammondsport.
The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum will host renowned aviation historian Kevin Burns for a special public presentation detailing the foundational role organized veterans played in shaping early American flight. Titled “History of Aviation in the American Legion 1919-1945,” the program will examine how the American Legion influenced aerospace development, infrastructure, and policy during the critical interwar period and through World War II.
The presentation is scheduled for Friday, July 31, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the museum, located at 8419 State Route 54 in Hammondsport.
