MACEDON – A 34-year-old man lost his life early Monday morning, August 31, after being struck by a train in the Town of Wayne County.
Deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area near Walworth Road and the CSX railroad tracks shortly after 3:30 a.m. following reports of a pedestrian collision involving a westbound freight train. Investigators determined the victim was walking directly on the tracks when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
While searching the area, deputies discovered the victim’s vehicle nearby, which had crashed into a ditch prior to the train collision. Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity pending full family notification.

- Assisting Emergency Agencies: The New York State Police, South Macedon Fire Department, Macedon Center Fire Department, Macedon Town Ambulance, and the Wayne County Highway Department all assisted deputies at the scene.
