Aaron Gies for Congress released this statement today on new analysis from Public Policy Polling that shows eroding support for Langworthy in the district. The Public Policy poll of 626 likely voters indicated that Langworthy has a 43% approval rating compared to the 66% of the vote he received in 2024. Statement from Aaron Gies for Congress below:
“NEW POLL: TRUMP UNDERWATER AND LANGWORTHY LOST GROUND IN NY-23
Trump has a net approval of -4 and just 44% of likely voters say Langworthy deserves reelection
OLEAN, N.Y. — President Trump’s and Congressman Nick Langworthy’s standing with voters in New York’s 23rd Congressional District has declined sharply since his 2024 election, according to a new Public Policy Polling survey conducted September 22–23.
The poll of 626 likely voters finds that Trump has a negative approval rating of -4% and just 43% approve of Langworthy’s job performance. This is a striking contrast from the 2024 election, where Trump earned 61% of the vote and Langworthy earned 66%.
Voters also remain divided on whether Langworthy deserves another term. 44% say Langworthy deserves to be reelected, while 39% say it is time for someone new.
“Voters are paying attention, and these numbers show that they are taking a fresh look at the people representing them in Washington,” said Aaron Gies, candidate for Congress in NY-23. “For too long, people in this district have been told that their vote is taken for granted. It isn’t. Voters deserve a representative who puts the needs of their families and communities ahead of big donors and party bosses.”
The survey asked voters directly about Langworthy’s job performance, as well as whether they believe he deserves reelection or whether it is time for someone new.
Public Policy Polling (PPP) conducted the poll September 22–23, 2026, among 626 likely voters in New York’s 23rd Congressional District via calls and text messages. The margin of error is ±3.9 percentage points.
