Ongoing Service Member Care Package Drive, Veterans Day November 11, and more
From Post 407
Hammondsport American Legion Roswell-McDaniels Post 407 has a busy November planned, with opportunities for the community to support local service members, honor Veterans and enjoy several events at the Post.
Throughout November, Post 407 is collecting items for its HCS Service Member Care Package Drive, supporting Hammondsport Central School alumni currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Community members are encouraged to donate care package items as well as handwritten letters and cards to send a little piece of home to local service members.
On Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, Post 407 will host a Veterans Day Appreciation Dinner from 5–7 p.m. The dinner is free for Post 407 Veterans, Post members and their families. The meal, featuring meatloaf and mashed potatoes, will once again be prepared and hosted by the Post’s Women’s Pool League as a way to thank local Veterans and Post 407 for its sponsorship. The Post will open at noon on Veterans Day.
The annual Turkey Raffle will be held Saturday, November 21, from 6–8 p.m. The event is open to the public, and the community is invited to come out for an evening of fun while supporting Post 407.
Post 407 also hosts Chicken Wing Sundays from 1–4 p.m. on November 1, 15 and 22. Chicken Wing Sundays are open to the public, and everyone is welcome to stop in for wings and enjoy an afternoon at the Legion.
Other November activities include the Post 407 monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m., along with Show Me the Money Game Nights at 6:30 p.m. on November 3, 6, 13, 17, 20, 24 and 27.
Post 407 will also be open on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, from 2–6 p.m.
Hammondsport American Legion Post 407 is proud to continue bringing Veterans, members and the Hammondsport community together while supporting those who have served and those who are currently serving.
