Yates County experienced a minor rise in unemployment last month compared to June, according to recent figures from the State Department of Labor.
In July, Yates County’s unemployment rate edged up to 3.2 percent, a slight increase from 3.1 percent reported in both May and June. For July, Yates County, alongside Columbia County, recorded the lowest unemployment rate in the state. In contrast, neighboring Ontario County had a rate of 3.5 percent, while Seneca County’s rate stood at 3.7 percent. Schuyler and Tompkins Counties both saw unemployment rates of 3.9 percent, and Steuben County’s rate was 4.2 percent.
On a broader scale, the statewide unemployment rate rose marginally to 4.3 percent from the previous month.
