A couple has pleaded not guilty to charges related to a dog attack that left a father and his 10-year-old son seriously injured in Canandaigua. Casey Murphy, 27, and Madison Herendeen, 26, were arraigned on Wednesday in Canandaigua City Court following the incident, which occurred on August 29 on South Main Street.
Authorities allege that the couple allowed their dog, known to have a history of aggressive behavior, to roam freely. The father, who suffered significant injuries from the attack, was present during the arraignment. In response to the incident, Murphy and Herendeen have surrendered the dog to the Ontario County Humane Society, which is evaluating the animal for potential humane euthanasia.
Both defendants are scheduled to return to court in October to face the charges of assault and reckless endangerment.
