Dundee to See Pedestrian Improvements with Upcoming DOT Project

The New York State Department of Transportation will be holding an informational meeting to discuss the details and answer questions.

The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) announced plans for a pedestrian improvement project in the village of Dundee, Yates County. The project aims to enhance safety and accessibility for walkers throughout the community.

A public informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 24th, at 6:00 PM in the District Office Conference Room at Dundee Central School. Residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the project details and ask any questions.

“This project is a significant investment in the well-being of our community,” said [Local Official Name], [Title]. “Improved pedestrian infrastructure will not only enhance safety but also encourage walking and outdoor activity for residents of all ages.”

The project scope includes:

  • Improved Rideability: Specific details on how rideability will be improved are not yet available, but the DOT will likely focus on smoother pavements and potentially designated walking lanes.
  • Enclosed Drainage System: This upgrade will help manage stormwater runoff and prevent flooding issues.
  • Updated Sidewalks: The project will address existing sidewalk issues such as cracks, uneven surfaces, and lack of accessibility.

Construction is expected to begin next summer. The DOT acknowledges that there will be temporary traffic pattern alterations and potential modifications to property access during construction. However, they assure residents that those directly impacted will be contacted beforehand.

For any questions or concerns regarding the project, residents can contact Marty Jackson at (607) 324-8454 or email Marty.Jackson@dot.ny.gov.
