“Harvested with a Heart,” a new $1 million campaign, promotes NY farmers by encouraging consumers to choose locally certified, sustainable products.
A new marketing campaign titled “Harvested with a Heart” is aiming to boost support for New York farmers by encouraging consumers to look for the NYS Grown & Certified seal. With $1 million in funding from a USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant, this campaign is spotlighting the stories of farmers across the state, the diverse crops they produce, and the role of local agriculture in the community. The initiative seeks to strengthen the bond between producers and consumers while increasing visibility for farms that meet the state’s certification standards.
Since its inception in 2016, the New York State Grown & Certified program has reassured consumers that the food they purchase is both local and meets higher standards in food safety and environmental stewardship. The program now includes 20 different agricultural commodities and processing industries, covering products such as:
- Fruits and vegetables
- Maple syrup and honey
- Dairy products
State Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball noted the importance of forming trust between consumers and farmers, emphasizing that the NYS Grown & Certified seal symbolizes local, safe, and environmentally conscious products.
