The Yates County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports stating that an individual is calling citizens posing as one of our Investigators. The individual is telling citizens that they need to pay money or they will be arrested. The calls sound legitimate because the caller is knowledgeable about the names of our Sheriff and UnderSheriff.
Understand that if someone is threatening to have you arrested if you do not pay money, it is a scam. DO NOT PAY MONEY!
