Snow Blankets Finger Lakes as Winter Storm Intensifies
The National Weather Service has extended a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of the Finger Lakes region as lake effect snow continues to blanket the area. The advisory, in effect until 1 p.m. Tuesday, warns of significant snowfall accumulations, potentially reaching 9 inches in some areas.
The persistent lake effect snow bands, fueled by frigid temperatures and strong winds, are expected to bring intermittent periods of heavy snowfall and reduced visibility. Motorists are urged to exercise caution, especially during peak commuting hours.
While conditions may improve temporarily on Tuesday, another round of widespread snowfall is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. This could lead to hazardous travel conditions, particularly in areas downwind of the Great Lakes.
