A 59-year-old Penn Yan man faces charges following an alleged domestic incident involving his 12-year-old child, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Chris Alan Martin was arrested Thursday evening at approximately 7:12 p.m. at 2941 State Route 5 and 20. Deputies reported that the arrest stemmed from an incident earlier that day near State Route 245 and Old Mill Road, where Martin is accused of striking his child in the head multiple times with a closed fist.
Although the child was not injured, authorities charged Martin with endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor.
Following his arrest, Martin was taken to the Ontario County Centralized Arraignment Court, where he was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Seneca Court at a later date.
The sheriff’s office has not disclosed additional details about the case or whether further investigations are underway.
