Corning Incorporated celebrated a lifetime of loyalty and service during its annual Service Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, June 18, honoring a select group of employees whose careers began 50 or even 75 years ago.
The luncheon, held in recognition of the company’s long-serving retirees, featured a heartfelt address by Chairman and CEO Wendell Weeks. In his remarks, Weeks personally thanked each retiree, presenting them with a commemorative check and expressing admiration for their quiet strength and lasting impact.
“This year’s retiree class may be small, but it is an undeniably mighty reflection of the silence and strength you all demonstrated throughout your careers,” said Weeks.
About 14 retirees attended the event, representing a larger group of approximately 60 individuals who are part of this year’s honored class. The celebration was a moment to reflect not only on professional achievements, but on the personal connections and milestones that defined many careers at Corning.
“It makes me feel like I spent my life in a good place. Half a century means a lot,” shared Max Black, a Corning retiree. “It was special to me because I found my wife here, and we both got sent to college from Corning. They’ve treated us very well.”
Jordana Kammerud, Chief Human Resources Officer at Corning, emphasized the event’s importance. “This is a celebration of our retirees who began their careers with us 50 or even 75 years ago. We are proud to honor their legacy and the lasting contributions they’ve made to the company.”
The annual luncheon continues to serve as a poignant reminder of Corning’s commitment to recognizing those who have shaped its history — not only through their work, but through the values and community they helped build.
