Also known as the Grapemaker’s Foccacia, see the receipe

From Mary Pat Hyland,

Ten years ago I was enjoying my artist’s residency at Sunny Point. I remember smelling the ripening grapes from the vineyards on the opposite shore. What a heavenly perfume! Such a wonderful time to be lakeside.

At the local farmers’ market this weekend an Amish family was selling concord grapes from Penn Yan. Of course I had to buy them.

My plans were to bake a grape pie. Instead I found a recipe for Schiacciata All’uva, grape focaccia (also known as Winemakers’ Focaccia). The recipe is far less sweet than a grape pie and would pair perfectly with a Keuka wine and local cheese.

Here’s a toast to all the grape growers and winemakers around Keuka. May your hard work play out in superb wines.

Cheers! 🍷
