5th Annual Steuben County History Awareness Week in Hammondsport

The Finger Lakes Boating Museum hosts over a dozen exhibits

Historian Craig Braack and Kirk House are featured speakers

“Agents of Change” has entertained so far more than 300 students  and countless adults during the Fifth Annual Steuben County History Awareness Week at the Finger Lakes Boating Museum in Hammondsport.

Some 16 unique history exhibits feature topics about people in history who changed the county in a wide range of aspects:

– Women’s Rights & Women’s History
– Religion
– Corning Glass​
– “Eccentric Science”
– Boatbuilders
– Public Works

– Famous Inventors

In addition to the entrancing exhibits Craig Braack will present on “Heaven’s Gate and Hell Fire” at 6 pm Thursday and county Historical Society Director Kirk House will give a presentation on “The New Deal” at 6 pm Friday.

The event, co-hosted by the Finger Lakes Boating Museum, continues from 9 am to 5 pm through Saturday.

The museum is located at 8231 Pleasant Valley Road in Hammondsport.
